Preparing for an Earth Medicine Ceremony

Each ceremony at Esperanza Land and ParchesU offers a very unique holistic experience. We thrive for you to get the most of this special event, including its preparation, so you feel safe and supported.

Medical conditions:

Fill out the medical form to serve us as the bases for a discussion of your pre-existing health and medical conditions.

Some prescribed drugs may have a contraindication. Especially if you are on antidepressants or any other medication, it is always best to inform us before hand. 

Diet:

A healthy diet before our ceremonies is recommended for maximum results. If your stomach is clean you will have a better experience. Fasting is the best option. Dry or with only water. You can also do a fruits limpia. It can be juices, such as consuming apple juice. Doing a diet of only one week before the ceremony is also a good option. In general this is recommended:

One week before:

  • Consume only light vegetarian foods. No animal products, to reduce inflammation of the body. 
  • Try to have one or 2 meals per day.
  • Small amounts of honey or panela in drinks is ok. No other sugars shall be consume. 
  • No alcohol, to prepare your spirit properly.
  • Avoid any recreational drugs.
  • Take a break of any earth medicines.
  • Avoid caffeine and tea with caffeine.
  • Each morning take a spoon of himalayan salt and half cup of warm water with lemon.
  • Avoid fried foods, unless is made with oils that burn at higher temperatures than when cooking.

Day of the ceremony:

  • Try not to eat at least 6 hours before the ceremony. 
  • For Kambo you shall not eat any food 8 hours before.

Meditation:

Meditation calms your mind. Can take you to what is call zero point, where you see the thoughts pass like a leave carried by the wind. Meaning you don’t experience emotions on your thoughts. It is a state of just existing.

Focus:

The week before your intensions focus on keeping your space (mind and world) clean. Mimimize the use of gadgets and technology to increse your self awareness. Go to walks on nature, practice yoga and go to sleep with your intention in mind. 

Sleeping:

Getting a good rest before the ceremony is important. A ceremony can last up to 12 hours. If you are well rested, it will allow you to enjoy fully the ceremony. Six to eight hours of sleep is recommended, in particular 3 days before the ceremony.

Kambo ceremonies last between 1-3 hours and it depends on how deeply the session calls for.
